Working With a South African PPC Specialist: Time Zones, Contracts and Billing for US Teams

The short answer: working with a South African PPC specialist is straightforward for US teams. South Africa overlaps with US Eastern and Central mornings, work can be contracted corp-to-corp through a registered company, and with the right reporting setup you get senior-level expertise on a flexible contract instead of a full-time hire. Here’s how the practical side works.

Time zones: more overlap than you’d think

South Africa runs on South African Standard Time (SAST, UTC+2) all year round, with no daylight saving. That puts it 6 hours ahead of US Eastern time in summer and 7 hours ahead in winter. In practice:

  • 9am Eastern is 3pm (summer) or 4pm (winter) in South Africa.
  • 9am Central is 4pm (summer) or 5pm (winter) in South Africa.

So US Eastern and Central mornings overlap naturally with the South African afternoon, which is when most agencies hold stand-ups and client calls. There’s an upside too: work requested at the end of your day can often be done before you’re back online the next morning.

Contracts: corp-to-corp, not employment

I work with US agencies and brands on a corp-to-corp (C2C) basis through my registered company, Stargaze Marketing Pty Ltd. For you, that means:

  • You’re buying a service from a company, not hiring an employee, which keeps billing simple and removes employment complexity on your end.
  • There’s a written agreement covering scope, reporting and notice period.
  • Foreign companies typically provide a W-8BEN-E form rather than a W-9. Your accountant will know what you need on file.

After an initial onboarding period of 60 to 90 days, which is how long it takes to properly test and optimize a new account, I work month to month with no long-term lock-in.

Billing

You receive invoices from my company, like any other vendor. For context on fit, I work best with brands spending at least $2,000 a month in the US market. Below that, there usually isn’t enough budget for the testing that actually moves the needle.

Communication and reporting

Distance only becomes a problem when communication is vague. What works well:

  • A live dashboard you can open any time, rather than waiting for a monthly PDF.
  • Regular written summaries that translate the numbers into clear takeaways and next steps.
  • Reporting calls monthly, or more often if you’d like, scheduled in your morning.
  • Agreed response times, so you always know when you’ll hear back.

Access and security

Everything runs through proper access, never shared passwords: your Google Ads accounts linked to a manager account, Meta access through your Business Manager, and user access to GA4 and Google Tag Manager. The accounts stay yours.

Getting started

After an initial call to align on your goals, KPIs and audience, I can typically start account audits and onboarding within a few business days. I come in with a clear audit framework, so there’s no long ramp-up before real work begins.

Location matters far less than fit. If you’re a US agency or brand looking for senior Google Ads and paid media support, let’s talk about whether we’re a good match.
